Hola yall,

So this week has been so amazing and spiritually uplifting! So the week started off when we got the transfer document that tells us where everybody in the mission is going to. We found out the Elder Pilkington was leaving then we helped him pack and did some other missionary things.

Tuesday we were stranded at the church all day and so we went to go get lunch from KFC and while we were walking back Angel (one of our investigators) flagged us down and asked us to visiters her mom who was in the hospital with a kidney infection. We visited and ended up giving her a blessing. It was really cool to be a part of that. That night we visited Mauricio and had a little bit of a tough lesson with him. He has been going back and forth with his belief in God. We told him that it's impossible to be in both sides his whole life so we told him that he needed to pick. The air in that room was so thick a knife would slice it. The Spirit was strong and bore testimony to Mauricio. He decided that he would believe in God. Super cool and powerful.

On Wednesday we taught Patricia with Hermana Montano. That lesson was really cool and Hermana Montano taught with a lot of power and strength. We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we taught her these important principles of life, she learn and we learned. That night we taught our class about Jesus Christ (still sparse in numbers) the Spirit was so strong there too! We got to hear the testimonies of Flor, Mauricio, and Ruben. They are all so humble and very strong!

Thursday we attended the funeral of Luis Castillo. He was a good man who was sealed to a sister who we have become close to. That was a beautiful service with a very sweet feeling that really resonated with me. I have been so blessed to be here in Calexico.

On Friday we got to spend the whole day helping to organize and coordinate the baptism of Angel. She asked that I baptize her. That was really humbling and powerful. We were worried because everyone was pretty late (including Angel) but then we remembered that Mormons are usually 5 minutes late and church is scheduled to start at 10 and usually starts at 10:20. So we waited and sure enough, they came. Angel has had a hard life and has changed so much of her life to be here. Needless to say we have never seen her cry. She second that she came up out of that water she was already crying. She felt so different she said. Simply amazing.

On Saturday we had another big lesson with Mauricio where we picked a day for him to get baptised. We read a lot in the scriptures and talked about them and watched a talk called "You Know Enough" by Elder Neil L. Anderson. We was kinda unsure about it because he didn't have a complete knowledge about everything that he wanted to and Elder Cowley (that beautiful man) felt prompted by the Spirit to promise in the name of Jesus Christ that when we was baptized he would receive for sure the knowledge that he was seeking. Wow. I have felt the Spirit that strongly one other time in my life and that was in the temple. Mauricio felt it too and committed to the 23 of February.

I am so grateful to be with Elder Cowley. He is such an amazing example to me. I have learned so much. On Sunday we watched a broadcast from Salt Lake City about missionary work. We were a little late because of the other Elders. The meeting was a town away and we had invited Mauricio to it. He beat us there and saved us seats! He's a super cool guy. I learned a lot from that broadcast. Anyway... That's it for my week!

Love you all

Yall,

So this week has been pretty cool! We have been working with Angel and she is getting baptised this Friday! We are super excited. Angel had been studying and working to find answers on her own and she has such a strong desire to understand the Gosple and to know God. She is a super big example to me.

We also are attending a funeral this weekend. It is for Brother Castillo.

That will be a cool experience. We have been working really hard and I come home beat every day. That's good though. Good news, my bike actually works now! It's been 6 weeks here and it works as of yesterday. So happy about that.

We had 4 investigators at church for Elder Cowley and I. The other elders in our area had like 3. It's exciting to see so much work going on here.

I have been blessed to be where I am. I'm staying here in Calexico for the next transfer at least. Elder Pilkington (of the other companionship in our area) left us. Sad but good.

I have had lots of testimony building experiences here and I am so grateful for all of them.

Right now I am stranded at the stake center which is in a town above Calexico. They took our car to San Diego and we found out last night at like 10. nice haha. So we are stuck until they get back. They took our Toyota Corolla and are giving us a red Toyota Sienna van haha. The other elders will look like moms! Anyway thats it for this week!

Love yall,
Elder Stephen
