Week 4

Hola All,
I'm sorry for not writing a group email last week! I promise that stuff happened hahaha. So two Sundays ago I was reassigned from the district leader. I am now a Zone leader (all of the districts are a part of a zone).
Also, I have been teaching in Spanish a lot recently! I have only been one month, and a bit and I can already use conversational Spanish. We started this thing last week called TRC. It's when Americans who can't speak at all in Spanish are assigned to a Latino companion and have about 30 minutes to prepare and teach a lesson to someone who you have never met. Lots of fun. I thought I knew Spanish. I do not.
Last week was my birthday. I am now an adult in my home state.
Also, we had thanksgiving lunch. That was cool haha.
I am learning so much. I have started learning about the Grace of God. What an amazing topic! I am always blown away with everything that is encompassed in that topic. Every blessing we have in our lives that is to help us receive the things of God is through the Grace of God. Really, we are hopeless here but with the proper perspective and the grace of God, we become so significant in the eyes of God. 1 Nephi 4:14 For insomuch as you keep my commandments, you shall prosper in the land.
Love yall,
Elder Stephen

Week 2

Hola All,

Another week in the CCM. I am the district leader here and I have already had to try to settle some drama. One sister in this district was being hit on by another missionary. There is no real reason to do that when you have left on a mission and promised to leave personal affairs behind haha. Especially when you wear your girlfriends name (Shannon) on your wrist haha. I had it taken care of though. I told this big Tongan Elder about it and he followed the Sisters home with me and saw when the said Elder tried to hold he hand. I say tried because this Tongan Elder sprinted up there and grabbed the bad Elder and his companion by the shoulders and walked them away and told them they had better go home hahaha! It was wonderful.

But other than that, the language is coming along wonderfully and I love having the time to really study the scriptures.I am going to share another scripture with you all before I go. In Alma 5:60 it says "And now I say unto you that the good shepherd doth call after you; and if you will hearken unto his voice he will bring you into his fold, and yet are his sheep; and he sommandeth you that ye suffer no ravenous wolf to enter among you, that ye may not be destroyed." I love that scripture because the Lord doesn't just want us to be together in him, but he desires our protection and safety. I really love that.

My companion is amazing! his name is Elder Hyatt and he is from Syracuse UT. He is exactly what I needed and we teach so well together! He is wonderful to talk to and I am very grateful for him. I am also grateful for the opportunity to serve as a missionary. I am excited to feel closer to the Lord than ever. I also feel the need to say thank you to everyone getting this email because it means that you have impacted my heart and my life for good. I love you all!!

Love,
Elder Stephen

Week 1

Hello All,
Well, this email means that I have made it one week as a missionary!!! It so so beautiful in the Mexico City MTC. Its also insane haha. I have leaned how to share my testimony, pray, and teach a lesson in broken Spanish. The best part is that I know its not me doing it!! It feels so amazing here. You feel a difference as soon as you step outside of the MTC into to the very crowed city. Its like a little paradise here. I was pretty scared the first day as I was flying internationaly but on my second flight I met a sister (hermana) who is actually going to my same mission! So we willl be flying to San Diego together as well in 5 weeks. My companion is great. His name is Elder Hyatt and he is from Syracuse, Utah and he is amazing! He is super tall but exactaly what i needed. I will share a quick scripture then I will let you all get on whit your days haha. In Moses 6:31-32 it says "And when Enoch had heard these words, he bowed himself to the earth, before the Lord, and spake before the Lord, saying: Why is it that I have found favor in thy sight, and am I but a lad, and all the people hate me; for I am slow of speech; wherefore am I thy servant? And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I have commanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give the utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good." Love, Elder Stephen
